BT announced in 2015 that they would be switching off PSTN and ISDN lines in 2025 giving businesses and individuals ten years to sort out their telephone connectivity. As the deadline approaches, has your business got itself ready for the switch-off?
The main opposition we come up against is that the legacy systems some businesses have in place have cost hundreds of pounds to install, and rightfully, business owners want to get the most out of it for the expense they’ve incurred.
If this is the situation you’re in, then think again, as in most cases, installing a new clouded system is minimal in expenditure, ongoing monthly costs for licences are set, so there’s no hidden costs, no expensive replacement parts to fork out for, and the entire system is easily operated, so need for external IT help.
A huge benefit to clouded systems, is that they are ‘plug-and-go’. You can plug in your handset wherever you’re working from; home, the office, next door, or a café and you’ll be in your office number ready to work. They’re also easy to operate, if you’re out of the office you can set simple messages, transferring calls between colleagues wherever you are in the world.
The bottom line is that in 2025 these lines will be switched off, there’s no exceptions, so getting a new system in place the sooner the better, before the inevitable rush closer to when time’s up.
